PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION FREE OF CHARGE
TaikaBox is currently looking for artists to join them for the ninth edition of OULU DANCE HACK, which will take place at the end of May at the Valve Cultural Center in Oulu.
The Oulu Dance Hack is a multidisciplinary research residency for professional artists, focusing on the relationship between movement and technology. TaikaBox director, choreographer Tanja Råman says: "We created the Oulu Dance Hack as a safe space for experimentation, where dancers, technologists, musicians and other artists from around the world come to challenge preconceptions and make exciting discoveries together."
Video artist John Collingswood: "We're looking for people who are comfortable working together and not afraid to try new things. In previous Hacks, we've danced with all kinds of technology, including industrial robots, drones, artificial intelligence - even street lights."
In preparation for the 2026 European Capital of Culture in Oulu, this year's residency is part of a larger collaboration, with the Dance Hack concept being exported to Hungary and Romania over the next 18 months. The team expects to be inundated with applications and to select five artists, who will be joined by oului technologists, as well as partners Central Europe Dance Theatre in Budapest and Developing Art in Bucharest.

The call closes on 18 February
