"As long as I can remember, I have lived in the vicinity of the Tisza. To this day, whenever I return to my homeland, Vojvodina, I "stop at the banks of the winding..." I often sit and study the water, observing the currents, ripples, eddies and waves. The fish glancing up and down, or the wanderer's clouds galloping gloomily. We have a dialogue, the river and I. If there's one thing I miss in the world around me, it's this: the quiet, all-pervading flow of the Tisza's foams. The peace and tranquillity that can only come over me sitting on the bank. These timeless moments can fill you up for years. As I sit and silently watch the waves, I am captivated by the current. The light glistening on the back of the waves carries me far away in my thoughts, my memories, my imagination. We tell each other stories, we listen to each other. In this deep silence, I feel the eternal current of existence. The attraction of matter in constant flux captivates one. The eddies pull me into the primordial depths of my own being. The eternal ripple permeates the viscera. The river and its beholder gradually tune into the same wavelength, where they ripple together." /Cserepes Gyula/

Gyula Cserepes is a contemporary dance choreographer and performer from Óbecs in Vojvodina. Tisza is an important part of his life. The intimate relationship with the river, the resulting experience of flow and rhythm, is a defining element of Gyula's art. For five days, four students of modern dance from the Hungarian Dance Academy and three dancers from the Central Europe Dance Theatre will explore the rhythm of the timelessness of the passing moment. In this etude, titled Tiszavirág, they will share images and scenes with the audience that are inspired by their shared experiences and lessons learned during the choreographic workshop.
