In the performance, surrealistic images of an extraordinary company unfold before us as we enter the realm of dream and imagination. Fantastic, sometimes grotesque images come to life on stage. The changing characters strive for unconscious, spontaneous revelation and free themselves from the control of the conscious mind. The energy of the choreography breaks its boundaries, the dynamics of the movements and the vibrancy of the colours create a universe of their own. In this hypnotic vision, nothing is real, yet everything is true.
Anton Lachky transcends our boundaries, opens our senses and takes us on a journey we have never been on before. Ready for an adventure?
The performance is supported by the Trafó House of Contemporary Arts.

...where there is truly free self-examination, self-discovery, in a "strange society" where free citizens can be themselves smoothly and naturally instead of the expected, obligatory role-conformity, anything can happen. Even that people indulge their wild desires, fuelled by their animal instincts, in the consumption of art, while in daily practice they live in peace and tranquillity with each other.
A Special Society is like a genie suddenly escaping from a bottle, a champagne shot from a shaken bottle.
You won't recognise the dancers of the Central Europe Dance Theatre in the Special Societyand if you saw them from the outside, they probably wouldn't know themselves either . They are all cool, daring, explosive, energetic, they almost tear up the stage as if their lives depended on it, and that's good.
I've never tasted it, but the name makes me imagine a designer drug like Anton Lachky Speciel Society choreography: it hits you right away, it gets you excited, it gives you spectacular visions, after a few minutes of silent reverence it spins you out of yourself again, and by the end you're not even thinking, you're just adoring.
I start every rehearsal by asking the dancers to show me the maximum they are capable of (...) My role starts when they feel they have reached the limit: from there I push them even further... Anyone I work with, at any level, will dance with me like they have never danced before. I can promise you that.
