Dance season in the spirit of internationalism! 

The Central European Dance Theater has announced its 2024/2025 season—the company is preparing four new productions, and audiences can look forward to seeing them at venues including the National Dance Theater and the Bethlen Square Theater.  

The upcoming season of KET will have a truly international atmosphere, starting with a presentation by Artistic Director László Mádi, which will 2024, the Year of Turkish-Hungarian Culture is established within the framework of the Golden Apple – Our performance titled *The Red Fruit of the Soul* October 26We will be presenting it at the Bethlen Square Theater on [date]. 

Starting this season, Noémi Gizella Nagy, Berta Pucsek, and Marcell Hován are joining our company as new members; audiences have already had the opportunity to see them on several occasions in our productions *Ageless Generation* and *Kócbaba*. These performances remain part of our repertoire! 

Our new international partnership is EU Dance Hack, in which our partners are TaikaBox (Finland) and Developing Art (Romania). The collaboration begins in Oulu, which served as the base for the first joint Dance Hack...'s. And its next stop, here in Hungary, is the Budapest Dance Hack 2024 (BDPH24) will take place at the Bethlen Square Theater. Five multidisciplinary artists will participate in this five-day intensive collaboration, representing innovative approaches from various professional fields across the European region. 

In the meantime, we must not forget our outstanding international collaboration, which is also supported under the Creative Europe Program, the Beyond Front@ (BF), which offers ongoing professional opportunities to enthusiasts and those interested in dance, theater, and the performing arts. “Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery” is a Creative Europe project (2023–2026) led by the Central Europe Dance Theatre (CEDT) (Hungary), Bunkers (Slovenia), Hrvatski institut za pokret i ples - HIPP (Croatia), Krakow Tańca Theatre / Krakow Dance Theatre (Poland), M STUDIO (Romania) and Vitlycke - Centre for Performing Arts (Sweden) was established to promote the local development of contemporary dance. 

The partnership also carried out numerous programs last season: 

As part of a program titled "Behind the Curtain," the director of the Krakow Dance Theater participated in a job-shadowing program at the 9th International Monodance Festival. 

Following this, the Hungarian delegation attended a Choreographers’ Network event to view a production by the Krakow Dance Theater, which has been invited to perform at SŐT7 in November.  In May, in Zagreb, the MTE participated in a meeting with Croatian and Polish partner dance education institutions. 

The Dance Communication Lab programs also continued, and we were able to send Hungarian dance artists to participate in them. Also thanks to Beyond Front@, our performance Ageless Generation / Kortalan Nemzedék was invited to the Flow Festival in Sepsiszentgyörgy.  

The Common Creation project is currently underway, with choreographer Francesco Scavetta traveling to partner countries, where he selects a dancer from each location following auditions, and then works with the chosen dancers in Sweden to bring his envisioned choreography to life. Last but not least, the Summer Dance Academy in Kraków took place recently, and thanks to the program, a Hungarian dancer was also able to participate. 

Our annual fall festival, the Sissi Fall Dance Week, is being expanded this year to include several additional events. The festival is BPDH24 opens it, and then the 13th Sissi Autumn Dance Week its programs, which promise special experiences again this year from November 16 to 23. At the same time, IKF Programour (Forum for Young Choreographers) marks the beginning of his creation, which This year, it will once again be organized in collaboration with the Hungarian University of Dance. The call for applications will be issued in the fall. Our aforementioned international project will also take place here, the Dance Communication Lab with a presentation. 

So be sure to mark November on your calendar, because we have a ton of professional events coming up!

And finally, the most spectacular premiere of the season is the National Dance Theatrewill take place in the second half of the season, April 24- I. This co-production is being created in collaboration with Polish choreographer Maciej Kuźmiński as part of the Creative Europe project Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery. He is the founder and director of the first Polish Dance Network (2018–2022). His solo works form the repertoire of the Maciej Kuźmiński Company. Since 2014, Kuźmiński’s works have been performed more than 300 times in 22 countries. The artist has won more than twenty international awards and honors for his productions created for the Maciej Kuźmiński Company. As a guest choreographer, he has created works for companies such as the Staatstheater Kassel (Germany), the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam (Netherlands), and the Polish Dance Theater.
